Lonestar Gridiron Names 12 Pittsburgh Players To 16-3A All District

Popular website releases their annual picks for the best players in district 16-3A.

INTERNET, Jan. 22, 2009 -- In their list of 16-3A picks released Thursday, Lone Star Gridiron, the website known for their real time pod-casts, singled out six Pittsburg players for inclusion on their first team lineup.

Not surprisingly, division winner New Boston and runner-up Pleasant Grove dominated the selections, but the Pirates did grab an MVP spot. Named as offensive MVP was Pirate Running Back Ted Burns.

Two lineman, Guard Matt Kirkland and Tackle Chesley Young were also chosen for the first team offensive squad.

On the defensive side of the ball, Pittsburg placed two players, Linebacker Greg Attaway and Cornerback Chris Brown.

Rounding out the first team selections, Pirate Place-Kicker Saul Martinez was chosen on special teams.

Lone Star picked another six Pirates for the Second Team squad:

On offense, the Pirate's QB Mitch Manley, WR Cody Sewell, Guard Harry White and Tackle Malcolm Isom were named.

Pirates selected for 2nd Team Defense were DL Dewayne Young and LB Maurice Green.
