Harleton Ladycats Win A Squeaker Over New Diana

In a close defensive game that could have gone either way, Harleton's girls hold off the Lady Eagles to win 31-29.

DIANA, TX., Jan. 23, 2009 -- From a 16-16 halftime tie, the Ladycats swapped the lead with New Diana several times over the course of the last 16 minutes, ending with a win that was in question all the way to the buzzer.

New Diana held the lead 23-22 at the end of the third, but 7 Eagle turnovers in the 4th quarter helped Harleton turn the tide.

With 25 seconds left, and the score tied at 29, Harleton's Hillary Hunter stole the ball from New Diana, outraced the Lady Eagles to the basket, and dished in the game winning lay-up to put the Ladycats on top.

A last second half court 3 point shot by Rainey Matthews fell short at the buzzer, sealing the win for Harleton.
