Overton Wins Heartstopper Over Chisum To Capture Quitman Tourney Consolation

In a game that went down to the buzzer, Overton hangs on to beat Chisum 47-46.

Overton droped their first round game to Hughes Springs 56-70, them won over Winona 60-46, to find themselves pitted against Chisum in the consolation game.

For their part, Chisum earned the berth after losing a close first round match to New Diana, 48-52. They then downed Paul Pewitt 69-62.

The teams played evenly in the first half, ending with Chisum leading 19-18 at the half.

After the break, Overton went on a tear, scoring 16 points in the third, while holding Chisum to 9 points. But Chisum wouldn't go away.

Up by 6 at the opening of the fourth, Overton watched their lead evaporate, and led by only 1 point with two minutes left.

They opened the lead to four on a 3 point bucket with 1:03 remaining, and Chisum was under the gun and running out of time, but not out of heart.

Chisum scored a 2 point goal and drew a foul, giving them a chance to send the game into overtime with less than a minute left, but it was not to be.

Only one free throw fell, and Overton walked off the court with a hard fought 1 point win.

Nathan Holland led the scoring for Overton with 16, followed by Garret Williamson with 12.
