Sabine Slams Elysian Fields 77-23

Cardinals extend win streak to 17, hand Yellowjackets their tenth straight loss

ELYSIAN FIELDS, TX, Feb. 3, 2009-- Continuing their romp through district 18-2A tonight, the Sabine Cardinal downed Elysian Fields' Yellowjacket squad 77-23.

The Cardinals had four players in double digits and seven players scoring. Coach Maynard Chapman's Yellowjacket squad, which has struggled this year, had four players adding to the point total.

Sabine's Lie'Quan Byrd was a big contributor to the defensive effort for the Cardinals, blocking seven shots, while teammates Zach Royce and Tyler Woodrell each snatched 8 rebounds under the basket.

Royce led the scoring with Sabine with 18 points. Keyante Bird paced the Yellowjackets with ten points.

Sabine, now (10-0) in district play, will host New Diana Friday. The Eagles are smarting after a 72-38 loss to White Oak tonight.

Elysian Fields (1-9), hopes to pick up another win when they travel to face Winona Friday.
