Sabine Battles Back In Third Quarter To Down Gladewater 65-61

The Sabine Cardinals demonstrated tonight why the TABC has them ranked fifth among Texas 2A basketball squads.

Noah Jackson led the Cards with 25 points, and Tyler Woodrell had a strong game on both ends of the court, scoring 22 and grabbing 10 rebounds, as Sabine downed 3A Gladewater in their second pool game of the 2008 Last Man Standing tournament.

Gladewater - At one point, Gladewater led by 13 points in the first half, taking a 28-23 lead into halftime.

Coach Jason Heffner must have given his Cardinal squad a heart-warming halftime talk, because Sabine roared back in the third quarter, outscoring the Bears 23-13.

The teams played evenly in the fourth quarter, but two free throws by Sabine's Colton Kirk, with 2.3 seconds left, put the win out of reach for Gladewater.
