Sabine Over Union Grove 66 - 40

3rd Ranked Cardinals notch 21st consecutive win at home over the Lions

GLADEWATER, TX, Feb. 13, 2009 -- The Sabine Cardinals, closing in on a school record for number of wins in a single year, handed the Union Grove Lions a loss tonight in Gladewater. In front of their home crowd, Sabine outscored Union Grove in all four quarters to pick up their 21st straight win.

Cardinals Noah Jackson and Colton Kirk combined for 34 points, while Lie'Quan Byrd, Hunter Powdrill and Tyler Woodrell made things difficult under the Lion's basket.

Byrd had six blocks and six rebounds, Woodrell and Powdrill teamed up to snatch seventeen rebounds.


Jackson led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Kirk with 15. Beau Davis paced the Lions with 15.

Sabine, 32-3 on the year, 13-0 in district play, goes for a perfect district record Friday in their last regular season game, on the road at the Winona Wildcats. The 'Cats gave New Diana a scare tonight, losing 56-60.

Union Grove (1-10) wraps up a tough season on Tuesday at home against White Oak.
