Another local team moves on in the playoff picture.
Daingerfield's Blue Tigers stunned New Waverly, scoring early and often.
The Tigers drew first blood, posting their first touchdown with less than a minute gone in the first quarter. The point after failed.
New Waverly answered right back, and the score was NW 7, Daingerfield 6 with 10:00 minutes left in the opening quarter.
The Tigers then went on a tear, and the quarter ended 28-7.
New Waverly scored again in the second quarter, and the score stood at 28-14. It would be the Bulldog's last addition to the score.
Daingerfield's Koko Smith had five touchdowns by halftime, and the Tigers went into the lockers with a 48-14 lead.
Daingerfield returned an interception for a score in the third, and Tony Johnson tacked on a TD run late in the third quarter. New Waverly was held scoreless the last half.
Daingerfield faces Newton in Carthage next Saturday at 2:00p.m.

Buckeyes and Lobos both stay alive in State football title quests.
In the Class 4A, Div 1, Region 1 Regional playoffs, Longview downed Dallas-Carter 35-20. Longview's record climbs to (11-2).
The Lobo's will next face Hewitt Midway, with a record of (12-1), in Texas Stadium on Dec. 6th.
Gilmer, battling an unfamiliar West Orange - Stark team, won it's Class 3A, Div 2, Region 3 Regional playoff game 35-23. The Buckeye's now sport a (12-1) record.
They will next face the Carthage Bulldogs (11-2) in the State Quarterfinals. Carthage beat Rockdale 55-28 this weekend in their own playoff match-up. The date and location of the game have not been announced.
A quick look at common opponents this year suggest the Buckeyes and Bulldogs may be closely matched. Both Gilmer and Carthage beat Dibol, Jasper, and Tatum this year, and both lost to Kilgore.
Versus Jasper, Gilmer won 56-28, and Carthage defeated them 56-21.
Opposing Dibol, Carthage beat the Lumberjacks 62-28, and two weeks later, the Buckeyes embarrassed them 54-0.
Gilmer dropped Tatum in the last regular season game 48-14. The next week, Carthage faced them in their first playoff game, and won 62-20.
Kilgore had both teams figured out this year, first winning over Carthage 33-20. Three games later, the Buckeyes lost to them 28-14.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reports that northeast Texas ducks are slow to appear this year.
Milder weather may be delaying the arrival of ducks in our area. Winter patterns are setting in, and hopefully, that will get our feathered table guests on the move south.
Excerpt of the TPWD report follows:
North Zone Duck: Cold weather exited and mild weather set in over the region during the weekend. However, a forecasted front mid-week and into the weekend should help prompt birds to move.
Many hunters in Northeast Texas say they are not seeing the number of mallards they normally see this time of year. Most of the mallards have been harvested in ponds and sloughs near the Red River.
Lake Wright-Patman has been good for gadwalls, teal and wood ducks. Lake Palestine has been good for gadwalls and wood ducks. Caddo Lake has been steady for gadwall, teal and ringed-necks. More divers have shown on Sam Rayburn, Lake Fork and Toledo Bend.
Along the coast near IH-10, mottled ducks, pintails and green-winged teal have made up the brunt of the bag. Many hunters set up on rice fields say they are seeing more birds this year, probably due to poor conditions in the nearby marsh. The first split end at sunset Nov. 30. Prospects are fair to good.

A Three-peat, some repeats, and a newbie squad take wins at Strahan Colliseum.
San Marcos was the sight of the Texas State Title Volleyball shootout this year. While some old hands gunned their way to the top of the heap, a few familiar faces surprised the handicappers.
In big school action, Amarillo notched up their third straight 5A title, winning tight 3-2 matches over League City and Austin Westlake.
In 1A play, Windthorst defended the title they won last year, as did Bushland in the 2A conference.
Oddsmakers were scarcely surprised at those outcomes, even if the 5A matches had them holding their breath.
But if underdogs and unknowns are your thing, then the hotly contested 3A and 4A games were the ones to watch.
Magnoilia returned to 4A state level play for the first time since 2001, only to fall to Hereford, in a 3-0 sweep. Hereford then advanced to face Highland Park, a team they had lost to twice this year. The betting was against them, to say the least, but they walked away champs with a 3-1 upset over the Scots.
In the 3A final contest, both the Lovejoy and Brownwood squads were first time entrants into the big show, and both won their semi final matches convincingly. Brownwood faltered at the last hurdle, and Lovejoy swept them 3-0 for the title.

White Oak volleyball squad drops a heart breaker in Regional play.
Tyler - They left it all on the floor, but it wasn't enough to overcome a vertically impressive Centerville Lady Tiger team.
The Ladynecks looked good in the first game, handling Centerville's hitters like old pros, and winning 25-18.
Centerville caught another gear and hit stride in the second, and the lead changed hands several times before the Tigers pulled away late, talking the game 25-22.
The third game was a battle of wills, with the score ratcheting up past the usual 25 point win to end up 32-30 in the Tigers favor. Strain began to show in White Oak's serving, as they lost several game point chances by serving into the net. Centerville seized each one to close the gap.
White Oak kept the fourth and final game close, but the height advantage and aggressive hitting of Centerville was enough to seal the deal, and the Tigers won 25-23.

Looking for that lunker to hang on your wall? Austin and Nacogdoches Lakes might be the place to cast a line.
ATHENS, Texas-Texas Parks and Wildlife Department this week stocked 32,000 six-inch largemouth bass with trophy genes into Lakes Austin and Nacogdoches.
The fish were produced at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens for use in Operation World Record, an on-going research project to determine if fish descended from 13-pound or bigger bass will grow faster and/or bigger than "wild" fish naturally occurring in a reservoir.
Because hatchery production was exceptionally successful, about 33,000 six-inch bass are available in addition to the 27,000 needed for the research project.
"Lake Austin was chosen as one of the sites to stock the excess fish because of its history of producing trophy largemouth bass," said Steve Magnelia, the TPWD Inland Fisheries biologist in charge of the lake. "Seven Budweiser ShareLunkers have come from Lake Austin, and the lake record is 14.35 pounds. Habitat is good on the upper end of the reservoir."
Lake Austin will receive nearly 13,000 fish.
Lake Nacogdoches, a 2,212-acre lake near the city of the same name, will be stocked with about 20,000 fish. "Since our management goal for this lake is to maximize the production of trophy fish, it seems like a good fit for the OWR fish," said Todd Driscoll, the TPWD Inland Fisheries biologist in charge of the lake. "Current vegetative coverage is over 40 percent, so there is ample habitat to ensure stocking survival."
